The task was to create a visual representing a personal story about an unfortunately unpopular book signing. The text had a witty and sarcastic tone, which needed to be reflected visually.
I conveyed this contrast by depicting the author in bright, eye-catching colours as she eagerly promotes her book, while the bookshop customers remain oblivious, illustrated in a muted, gray-based palette.
The final illustration uses bold colour and composition contrasts to enhance the humor of the situation, visually reinforcing the narrative’s playful yet bittersweet tone.
